About this book

Who it's for

Anyone convening bodies to move together: teachers, jam hosts, movement therapists, theater directors, curious hosts. No prior teaching credential is assumed. You do need a working body-sense of the form yourself — if you've never shared weight, take a few classes first; you can't facilitate a terrain you haven't walked.

How it's made

The book is written as plain markdown and kept in a public repository. The same source files produce three editions: this website, a print PDF, and an ODT working manuscript. Edit a game once and all three follow.

It is modeled, in spirit and structure, on the Authentic Relating Games Manual: every game is a self-contained card you can open to and run cold.

A word on risk

Contact improvisation involves shared weight, falling, and — in the upper tiers — lifts. People get hurt when a facilitator runs a game the room isn't ready for. Every card carries a Watch For section. It is not optional reading. Neither is Chapter 4.

Status

Draft v0.1 — a working first cut. Structure, tone, and the game deck are all open to revision. Stick-figure illustrations are pending.
